
Upstate Signee Miller Named Cal JC All-American and Pitcher of the Year

Spartanburg, S.C. – USC Upstate softball signee Anna Miller has capped off a tremendous season at the College of Siskiyous by earning All-America honors and being named the Pitcher of the Year among all California Junior Colleges by the California Community College Fastpitch Coaches Association (CCCFCA), this coming as she leads the Lady Eagles into the State Championship in the Cal JC state tournament.
Miller, from Portland, Ore., has been sensational this season and has led Siskiyous into the 2012 CCAA State Championship in California. Siskiyous is currently 40-2 on the season and the top-ranked team among all junior colleges in California. Miller has been the catalyst for the team and owns a 21-2 overall record. She was named the Pitcher of the Year in leading Siskiyous to its tremendous season.
In addition to earning Pitcher of the Year honors from the CCCFCA, she was an National Fastpitch Coaches Association Cal JC All-American selection. She also earned All-State honors as the Pitcher of the Year and co-Most Valuable Player. A first team All-Conference selection in the Golden Valley Conference, she earned the league's Pitcher of the Year honor as well.
Miller will lead Siskiyous into the Cal State Championship beginning Friday. The tournament's No. 1 seed and the top seed in the North, Siskiyous will face the South's No. 2 seed Riverside Community College to open the championship. The No. 1 seed in the South, Cypress, will open play against the No. 2 seed in the North, Sierra. The winner's of the two games will face each other Saturday with the championship game being played Sunday against the team advancing out of the loser's bracket.
