Lohr Leads Travel Ball Team to NSA World Series Championship

Spartanburg, S.C. – USC Upstate softball player Kara Lohr enjoyed a solid freshman season in 2012. Returning to Spartanburg for a week this summer, the rising sophomore made a successful college hometown homecoming by securing the game-winning hit to lead the Carolina Attitude travel ball team to the NSA World Series championship at the Tyger River Park.
Lohr, from Lexington, N.C., and the Attitude had won its first four games in the 19-team bracket before facing the Metamora Flames last Thursday. The Attitude claimed a 13-1 victory to setup a rematch with the Flames for the World Series championship on Friday. With the Attitude down 4-3 in the top of the fifth inning, Lohr came to the plate and knocked a two-run single to give Carolina a 5-4 lead. The Attitude went on to win the championship.
"I'm so glad we won," Lohr said to Todd Shanesy from the Spartanburg Herald-Journal. "We played so well all weekend, but we had to make it interesting all the way to the end. I'm just really excited for the team."
Lohr saw action in 36 games for Upstate in 2012, mainly being used as a pinch runner. She helped lead the Spartans to 39 wins and an overall record of 39-13 and a third-place finish in the A-Sun. She hit .286 for the season and scored 12 runs while gaining invaluable experience.
