Quick Hits
Close Calls: Wofford has seen its share of close matches this fall, playing six contests with five of them decided by just a single goal. The Terriers came out on top in four of those five games, giving them plenty of experience playing in heated contests in the second half. The only losses Wofford has suffered came at home to Troy and on the road at UNC Asheville, a team the Spartans fell to earlier this year. Both Wofford and Upstate fell by a four-goal margin to the Bulldogs in the team's only common opponent so far this season.
Blue Hose Woes: Presbyterian has gone winless on the season in six games, opening the year with four straight road matches before dropping back-to-back home contests. The Blue Hose seemed to be right on the edge of success early, dropping a 4-3 double overtime decision at Francis Marion and falling 3-2 in overtime at ETSU. Since those two one-goal defeats, PC has been outscored 12-1 in its last four games, including three straight shutouts. One of those shutouts came at the hands of Wofford who tallied a second-half goal to edge the Blue Hose.
First Half Success: The Spartans have locked up their defense the last two games in the first half, holding Gardner-Webb scoreless with just seven shots, while keeping Francis Marion off the board the opening 36 minutes before a penalty kick broke the scoreless tie. Upstate has recorded three first-half shutouts on the year, blanking VMI, Charleston Southern and Gardner-Webb for the opening 45 minutes.
