Spartans to Host USC Upstate Fall Classic this Weekend

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The USC Upstate women's tennis team is set to host the USC Upstate Fall Classic Sept. 21-13, welcoming a trio of teams to town for the program's annual event at the USC Upstate Tennis Complex.
Coming off an impressive performance last weekend at the Elon Fall Invitational that saw the squad claim a pair of championships, the Spartans return home and look to continue their winning ways on their home court.
Wofford, ETSU and Presbyterian will all make an appearance in the annual classic that features 27 singles players and 14 doubles tandems. The tournament is slated to start Friday with doubles action at 1 p.m. and resume Saturday and Sunday mornings at 9 a.m.
All seven USC Upstate women's tennis players will be in action, including fourth-seeded Constanze Kuerten who received an opening round bye and will take on Wofford's Tessa Johnson or ETSU's Kelsey Williams in the second round.
Isabel Von Stryke enters singles action as the No. 6 seed and takes on Wofford's Mareli Sanchez in the opening round, while Julie Bell will battle Presbyterian's Caroline Deloach in her first match-up of the weekend.
Coming off a singles championship at Elon last weekend, Taylor Cohen will battle Presbyterian's Patricia Alves in the first round for the right to take on Wofford's Sarah Evans who received the top overall seed in the singles bracket.
Allison Beeler will take on Presbyterian's Kayla Stanford in the opening round, while Sara Vande Berg will battle Presbyterian's Danielle Jones and Talia Rojas will go head-to-head with Wofford's Emily Prezystawski.
In doubles action, Von Stryk/Rojas will pair up for the Spartans, while Cohen/Bell will look to capture a doubles title in back-to-back weeks after breezing through the field at the Elon Invitational. Beeler/Kuerten will open doubles action against Wofford.
