
Upstate Concludes Fall Season at 49er Invitational

Charlotte, N.C. – The USC Upstate women's tennis team wrapped up its fall season Saturday afternoon with three matches against Davidson and Charlotte on the final day of the 49er Invitational at Halton-Wagner Tennis Complex.
The Spartans began the afternoon with a doubles match against Davidson, and finished up with two singles contests with Davidson and host school Charlotte.
In its lone doubles contest, Upstate fell in both pairings to Davidson. Sarah Vande Berg and Anna Zoske dropped an 8-2 decision to Elaina Cummer and Brites Moniz-Soares, and Lindsey Buenger and Talia Rojas lost to Jenna Brunner and Nisha Crouser 8-3.
Upstate started singles play by falling in three individual matches to Charlotte, and in the final match lost two of three to Davidson. Buenger was victorious in her singles contest as she defeated Elise Held in straight sets 6-4, 7-5.
The Spartans begin their 2014 spring schedule Friday, Jan. 17 with a 2 p.m. home match against Troy.
