Elon, N.C. – The USC Upstate women's tennis team wrapped up competition Sunday at the Elon Invitational with strong performances that landed a trio of Spartans with runners-up honors.
Junior Isabel von Stryk (Holm, Germany) finished second overall in the A-1 singles flight after coming up short, 3-6, 1-6, in the finals match against ETSU's Lyn Yee Choo. Despite the loss, von Stryk finished the weekend with a 3-1 record in singles play. Senior Taylor Cohen (Duluth, Ga.) placed sixth in the A-1 flight.
In doubles play, freshman Ana Baron (Brusque, Brazil) and junior Lindsey Buenger (Shawnee, Kan.) advanced to the finals of the B-2 doubles flight, but were beaten 8-4 by Elon's Tolley Rice and Viviana Stavreva.
USC Upstate returns to action Sept. 20-22 when the Spartans host the USC Upstate Fall Classic from the USC Upstate Tennis Complex.
