Spartanburg, S.C. – After claiming her career-best finish with a 6th-place effort at the Terrier Intercollegiate, USC Upstate standout Rachel Reiling has been named the A-Sun Golfer of the Week for women's golf.
Reiling, a senior from Littleton, Colo., turned in a strong tournament at the Terrier Intercollegiate. She opened the tournament with a 2-over-74 and played her final 11 holes at 1-under. She carded an 82 in the final round to finish in 6th place with a 156 total. She finished the tournament with two birdies and 22 pars.
Reiling's 6th-place finish at the Terrier Intercollegiate was her career high. She beg her collegiate career at Adams State in her home state of Colorado and claimed an 8th-place finish at the 2011 RMAC Women's Golf Event #2 to establish her previous career-best finish. She transferred to Upstate after her freshman season and her previous top finish at Upstate was a 13th-place effort at the 2013 Eat-A-Peach Classic.
Reiling is the only senior on the Upstate women's golf team and entered her senior season as the leader in stroke average. She currently ranks second on the team this season with a 78.6 average and owns a .556 winning percentage on the year.
Reiling is now the second Upstate women's golfer to earn a weekly or monthly award from the A-Sun. She joins former standout Brittany Lowe who earned golfer of the week honors in 2012.
