
Spartans Conclude Day One at Wake Forest Invitational

Wake Forest, N.C. – The USC Upstate women's tennis team picked up a win in doubles play to highlight competition on day one of the Wake Forest Invitational from the Wake Forest Tennis Complex.
Upstate's doubles tandem of Anna Zoske and Isabel von Stryk opened play with an 8-4 loss to Emilia Granstrom and Tereza Hejlova of Western Kentucky in their first match, but answered with an 8-4 victory over Sam Droop and Noelle Kaufmann of Navy in the consolation bracket.
The duo is slated to face Maria Storozheva and Dana Gray of East Carolina Saturday morning at 9 am.
In singles play, von Stryk dropped a 6-2, 6-2 decision to Alice Garcia of Winthrop in the A draw and will next face Clare Cox of Appalachian State Saturday at 10:15 a.m.
Zoske fell 6-1, 6-3 to Karen Forman of Wake Forest in the C draw and is scheduled to take on Taylor Zaytoun of NC State Saturday at 12:45 p.m.
Freshman Nona Ruppert was defeated 6-4, 6-2 by Taylor Casey of Elon in the E draw and faces Nadia Hilton of North Carolina A&T Saturday at 12:45 p.m.
