Upstate Closes Out Regular Season Saturday at FGCU

Spartanburg, S.C. – Although Upstate and Florida Gulf Coast have both clinched spots in next week's A-Sun Tournament, a lot is on the line Saturday night when the teams close out the regular season with a 7:30 p.m. game at the FGCU Soccer Complex.
Upstate (4-8-1) stands fifth in the A-Sun (2-3-0) with six points and could move up to fourth place with a win and a North Florida loss against a Northern Kentucky team that is sitting in sixth place but in need of a win to ensure its spot in the A-Sun Tournament. FGCU (5-6-5, 3-1-1) is battling to win the regular season championship and enters the weekend tied for second with 10 points. A win and a Lipscomb loss at Jacksonville would give the Eagles the championship, No. 1 seed and tournament host responsibilities for next week.
Upstate is riding a two-game winning streak into the game against FGCU, while FGCU is 0-1-2 in its last three matches. Upstate ranks third in the A-Sun in goals, while FGCU is fifth. However, The Eagles top the A-Sun in goals against average.
