
Upstate Earns USTFCCCA All-Academic Team Accolades

Spartanburg, S.C. – For the third consecutive year the USC Upstate women's cross country team has received All-Academic Team honors by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA), it was announced recently.
The Spartans posted a team grade-point average of 3.48 during the fall semester as they earned the award for the third time in program history. Upstate has been recognized as a USTFCCCA All-Academic Team in 2012 and 2013.
The women had four finishes of seventh or better last season highlighted by a 2nd place performance at the Eye Opener Invitational in Spartanburg. The Spartans also finished 4th at the season-opening Covered Bridge Open and was 6th at the UNC Charlotte Invitational.
Upstate was one of four teams from the Atlantic Sun to receive the award along with East Tennessee State, Lipscomb and Mercer.
The Scholar Teams of the Year were among 217 women's teams and 160 men's teams that earned All-Academic Team honors for the 2013 season. Programs must have compiled a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or greater to qualify for the award.
