Jekyll Island, Ga. – With rain and wind pelting the Pine Lakes Course and the players at the Jekyll Island Golf Resort throughout the day Tuesday, the second round of the A-Sun Women's Golf Championship was suspended and will resume Wednesday morning.
All of the teams had players out on the course when play was suspended in the morning. The teams resumed play for a brief amount of time in the afternoon before the tournament was suspended again, this time ending play for the day. The second round will be completed Wednesday morning with the final round starting immediately following the end of the second.
"Today was a long day on and off the course," said Upstate head coach Todd Lawton. "After nine hours of playing and delays, the A-Sun staff made a good decision to continue our rounds tomorrow. The Jekyll Island staff is doing a good job under difficult circumstances. I think the course will be ready tomorrow and I know our players are excited about playing after a long day today."
Upstate had players finishing anywhere from three to seven holes in the second round. The Spartans were in 10th place entering the second round, trailing Lipscomb by five strokes and Northern Kentucky by nine.
