Nashville, Tenn. – After hitting .600 over three games in the A-Sun Tournament, junior third baseman Kendall Settlemyre was named to the all-tournament team following the completion of the A-Sun Tournament as Stetson claimed the league's championship and automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
Settlemyre was 6-for-10 with a home run and double en route to earning all-tournament honors for the first time in her career. She also drove in five runs and scored five others. Her all-tournament selection comes on the heels of earning first team all-conference honors.
Settlemyre had two hits in each of the three games of the A-Sun Tournament. She was 2-for-3 with two runs in Upstate's 4-3 loss to Mercer to open the tournament. She was 2-for-3 with a home run, two RBIs and a run in the 3-0 victory over Lipscomb. She finished the tournament 2-for-4 with three RBIs and two runs as Upstate rallied from a 7-2 deficit to tie the game at 7-7 before falling to FGCU, 8-7.
Upstate stands 45-7 on the year and will await Sunday's NCAA Selection Show to see if the body of work it has put together this season is good enough for an at-large selection to the NCAA Tournament. If the Spartans are selected, they would become the first A-Sun team to earn an at-large bid in the history of the conference and it would be Upstate's second straight appearance in the NCAA Tournament.
