Tuscaloosa, Ala. - The 24th-ranked USC Upstate softball team begins play today in the NCAA Tournament at the Tuscaloosa Regional. The Spartans will face 21st-ranked South Alabama in an early matchup of Top 25 teams at 3:30 p.m. CT, 4:30 p.m. ET. The game will be broadcast on ESPN3.
Upstate enters the game with a 45-7 record. The Spartans won the A-Sun regular season championship and are armed with the A-Sun Player of the Year in Shellie Robinson, A-Sun Pitcher of the Year in Anna Miller and a program record six all-conference selections.
South Alabama is 40-12 on the season and advanced to the championship game of the Sun Belt Tournament before falling to nationally-ranked Louisiana-Lafayette.
