Upstate begins its season for the second straight year in Boone, N.C. Aug. 29 with the Covered Bridge Open before staying in the state of South Carolina for the next month. The Spartans remain in the upstate region for the next three meets including two of their own events to be held at the Roger Milliken Center.

The women's 5K collegiate race kicks off the event at 9 a.m. while the men's collegiate 8K starts at 9:30 a.m.
"The Upstate Invitational will be a great meet to come out and watch," Blackwelder added. "By early October the weather will be great for cross country racing."
The Upstate Invitational has already garnered several teams including Appalachian State, Winthrop, College of Charleston, North Florida, Georgia Tech, UNC Asheville, Wofford and Western Carolina.
The Spartans wrap up the month of October by heading down to Charleston, S.C. Oct. 17 for the CofC Invitational beginning at 5 p.m.
