Von Stryk Reaches Semifinals at Elon Fall Invitational

Elon, N.C. – USC Upstate senior Isabel von Stryk turned in a perfect 2-0 single record on her way to qualifying for the semifinals Friday from the Elon Fall Invitational.
Competing in the A-1 flight, von Stryk opened play with a 6-3, 6-3 victory over Belen Rivera of Liberty before claiming a 4-6, 6-2, 10-6 win over Karen Forman of Wake Forest. Von Stryk is scheduled to face Emilia Granstom of Western Kentucky on Saturday.
Upstate freshman Sharlee Deshmukh posted a 3-6, 6-3 (10-4) victory over Tamara Jeremic of North Carolina Central in the B-2 singles flight in her Spartan debut, but dropped a 6-4, 6-2 decision to Taylor Fay of Radford in the second round. Deshmukh will face Cassie Pennington of Western Kentucky Sunday in the third place match.
Competition resumes Saturday morning at 9 a.m.
