Women's Tennis to Host USC Upstate Fall Classic

Spartanburg, S.C. – Fresh off a solid showing at the Elon Fall Invitational, the USC Upstate women's tennis returns home to host the UCS Upstate Fall Classic beginning Friday at 1 p.m. from the USC Upstate Tennis Complex.
Competition continues Saturday morning at 9 a.m. and will conclude Sunday at 9 a.m. with championship matches. The tournament will also feature ETSU, Wofford, UNC Asheville, Chattanooga, Gardner-Webb and Presbyterian.
Upstate newcomers Nona Ruppert and Sharlee Deshmukh will begin play in the doubles green draw and face Katie Polk and Rachele Gazzola of Chattanooga. In the doubles white draw, No. 2 seed Isabel von Stryk and Anna Zoske have received an opening round bye and will play later in the afternoon.
In singles action, Deshmukh is paired against Claire-Mitchell Andrews in the green draw, while Zoske will face Catherine White of Gardner-Webb. Ruppert takes on Demi Henschel of Presbyterian in the white draw.
Von Stryk will play as the top seed in the black draw and won't play until Saturday in the quarterfinals. Freshman Nina Roell is slated to battle Samantha Russell of Wofford in the black draw.
