
Six Spartans Receive NFCA Scholar-Athlete Accolades

Spartanburg, S.C. – The USC Upstate softball team had six players from its 2015 squad named Scholar-Athletes by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA), it was recently announced by the organization.
The six Upstate softball players who received the award are: former Spartans Lindsey Greeson, Marche Llanos and Shellie Robinson, and current members Ryan Rector, Lexi Shubert and Amanda Storch. The Spartans finished with a team grade-point average of 3.0 or better for the ninth straight year after registering a 3.084.
A total of 5,493 softball players across seven membership divisions earned NFCA All-America Scholar-Athlete honors for the 2014-15 academic year. NCAA Division I, with 1,554 honorees, had the most student-athletes with a 3.5 grade-point average or higher.
