Upstate Men Place 11th, Women 13th at Wake Forest Invitational

Winston-Salem, N.C. – The USC Upstate cross country team posted three season-best times and three personal-best marks at the Wake Forest Invitational Friday afternoon as the men's team finished 11th and the women 13th from Beeson Park.
The Upstate men began the afternoon by turning in an 11th place performance following an average time of 26:35.12. Griffin Eubanks led the Spartans with a 21st place performance after crossing the finish line in a season-best time of 25:31.06. Theodore Kountourogiannis and Martin Morrow each compiled season-best times in the 8K as Kountourogiannis ran a 26:20.71 to place 61st while Morrow logged a 27:11.73. Dorian Jones and Ereck Lewis both had personal-best times after Jones ran a 27:08.09 and Lewis a 28:16.08.
Alex Love recorded the third-highest finish for Upstate with his time of 26:43.98. Mark Rennix completed the course in 28:21.99 followed by Marcus Miles at 29:11.05. Abraham Hernandez (29:11.05), Logan Ray (30:15.64) and Calin Schumacher (30:43.49) rounded out the men's race for the Spartans.
On the women's side, Upstate finished in 13th position as it concluded the race with an average time of 25:06.31. Ashleigh Torres turned in the top individual performance for the Spartan women after setting a personal-best time in the 6K of 23:50.47 to place 85th.
Anastasia Kolesnitchenko was the second-fastest runner with her time of 24:34.61 and Rebecca Elliott ran the course in 25:22.20. Molly Bliss had a time of 25:39.13 and Haley McCoy ended the race eight spots behind her with a 26:05.10. Kelsey Warren (26:23.35) and Essence Jackson (27:24.81) finished within five positions of each other in the individual standings.
George Mason took home top team honors in the men's race while Richmond won the women's event. Luis Vargas, running unattached, and Wake Forest's Ellie Abrahamson were the individual medalists.
Upstate travels to Jacksonville, Fla. on Friday, Oct. 30 for the A-Sun Championships.
