
Upstate Travels to Winthrop Intercollegiate this Weekend for Fall Finale

Spartanburg, S.C. – The USC Upstate women's golf team is set to compete in its third tournament in two weeks this weekend as it concludes fall play at the nine-team Winthrop Intercollegiate from the par 72, 5,900 yard Rock Hill Country Club.
Upstate will send out the same five in its starting lineup at the Winthrop Intercollegiate in Payton Culler, Sidney Dermody, Allea Hawkins, Malika Allie and Allie Gennaula.
The tournament format consists of 18 holes on Saturday beginning at 10:30 a.m. followed by 18 holes Sunday starting at 9 a.m.
The Winthrop Intercollegiate field will be made up of nine teams along with the Spartans. The other eight teams competing are Radford, Gardner-Webb, Presbyterian College, Bethune-Cookman, Appalachian State, Queens University of Charlotte, Savannah State and host Winthrop.
Awards will be given to the first and second place teams, individual medalist and five All-Tournament Team members.
Upstate concluded its fall season last year at the Winthrop Invitational with a third place performance out of nine teams. Hawkins tied for eighth place at the tournament while Culler claimed a tie of 12th. Dermody finished tied for 22nd and Gennaula, playing as an individual, placed 36th.
The Spartans took home an eighth place finish Tuesday at the Terrier Intercollegiate led by Culler who tied for 27th place. Allie finished play in 30th position, Dermody in a tie for 33rd, Hawkins a tie for 43rd and Gennaula tied for 48th.
