
Upstate Heads to North Florida Saturday for Regular Season Finale

Spartanburg, S.C. – The USC Upstate men's soccer team closes the book on its regular season Saturday evening as it travels to Jacksonville, Fla. to face the North Florida Ospreys at 8 p.m. from Hodges Stadium.
Upstate enters the match with a 5-5-1 overall record and 1-2-1 mark in the A-Sun after falling last Saturday to 22nd-ranked Florida Gulf Coast 4-0. Gordon Wild had a team-high five shots, including two on-goal, for Upstate while Tucker Beerman added three. Hassan Haddad contributed three saves in goal.
The Spartans have the conference's leading offense as they have scored 23 goals this season. Wild leads the A-Sun in goals, points and shots, while Leon Schwarzer ranks first in assists with five. Nationally, Wild leads all players in four offensive categories including goals per game, points per game, shots per game and shots on goal per game, and is second in goals.
North Florida currently sits at 7-6-1 on the season and 3-0-1 in league play under fifth-year head coach Derek Marinatos. The Ospreys are led offensively by Milan Kovacs with four goals, and he is tied for the team-lead in points at eight along with Alex Morrell and Simen Solstad. Morrell and Solstad are also tied for first on the team with four assists. Kyle Nasta has recorded 39 saves for a .629 save percentage in net this season.
Upstate holds an 11-6-1 lead in the all-time series over North Florida, but the Ospreys captured a 3-0 victory last season in Spartanburg.
