
Upstate Plays Host to NJIT Saturday Afternoon

Spartanburg, S.C. – The USC Upstate men's soccer team will play host to the NJIT Highlanders in ASUN action Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m. from County University Soccer Stadium.
Upstate is back in action for the first time since last Saturday, Oct. 8 when it traveled to Nashville, Tenn. and fell to Lipscomb by a score of 2-1. Joel Bunting scored his team-leading fourth goal of the season against Lipscomb while Cam Philpot dished out his first career assist as a Spartan. Davis Smith and Santiago Restrepo combined for six saves in the contest, with Smith tying his career-high of four saves and Restrepo added two.
NJIT enters the weekend with a 5-4-3 overall record and holds a 2-1 mark in conference play. The Highlanders are led offensively by Rene White with 10 points on five goals. Victor Pujades has grabbed 33 saves this season for a .733 save percentage and allowed 12 goals to compile a 1.01 GAA. NJIT is under the direction of first-year head coach Fernando Barboto.
Upstate is facing the Highlanders for the first time in program history Saturday afternoon.

The Spartans close out their road schedule next Saturday, Oct. 22 as they travel to Fort Myers, Fla. to face 12th-ranked Florida Gulf Coast at 7 p.m.
