
Upstate Closes out Fall Schedule this Weekend at Winthrop Intercollegiate

Spartanburg, S.C. – The USC Upstate women's golf team wraps up its fall season this weekend as the Spartans make the short trip to Rock Hill, S.C. to compete in the nine-team Winthrop Intercollegiate at the par 72, 5993-yard Rock Hill Country Club.
The Winthrop Intercollegiate is a 36-hole tournament played over the course of two days. Saturday will feature 18 holes of competition with tee times beginning at 10:30 a.m. Teams will also play 18 holes on Sunday with a 9:30 a.m. start.
Upstate is one of nine teams competing in the two-day tournament along with Appalachian State, Austin Peay, Bethune-Cookman, The Citadel, Presbyterian College, Radford, Savannah State and Winthrop.
The Spartans will be sending out a five-player lineup consisting of Pan Paksanont, Payton Culler, Anna Chanthaphaeng, Sidney Dermody and Allea Hawkins.
Paksanont has compiled back-to-back top-10 finishes for Upstate after placing in a tie for 10th at the Terrier Intercollegiate Oct. 10-11 in Spartanburg. The freshman became the first women's golfer since Rachel Reiling in 2014-15 to post two straight finishes of tenth or better, and concluded the tournament third in par 3 scoring and tied for seventh in pars. Culler was tied for seventh among the tournament field in birdies, and Chanthaphaeng finished in the top-10 in pars and par 4 scoring.
As a team, the Spartans had their best finish of the fall season with an eighth-place performance after shooting a combined score of 635 (322-313).
