
Upstate Heads to Nashville for Weekend Matchup with Lipscomb

Spartanburg, S.C. – The USC Upstate men's soccer team will be back in action on Saturday evening when it travels to Nashville, Tenn. for an 8 p.m. EST contest against the Lipscomb Bisons in ASUN action from the Lipscomb Soccer Complex.
Upstate (3-6, 1-1) wrapped up non-conference play on Tuesday with a 4-2 loss at home to Georgia State. Michelangelo Dovidio scored his first goal of the season against Georgia State while Rinaldi Alphonse netted his second goal. Calon Minors dished out his team-leading fourth assist of the season that led to the goal by Dovidio. Santiago Restrepo set a new career-high in the match by grabbing six saves.
Lipscomb enters the weekend matchup with a 5-5-1 overall record and is 1-2 in conference play. The Bisons have earned wins this season over Florida Atlantic, Western Illinois, Belmont, SIU-Edwardsville and Stetson. Lipscomb is led offensively by Logan Paynter with 12 points on five goals and two assists. In goal, Micah Bledsoe has played in nine matches and compiled 31 saves while allowing 12 goals.
The Spartans and Bisons are meeting for the 10th time in program history on Saturday with Lipscomb holding a 6-3 lead in the all-time series. In the last meeting between the two teams, the Bisons picked up a 3-0 victory in Spartanburg on Sept. 30, 2015.
