
Upstate Heads to Appalachian State for Mimosa Hills Intercollegiate

Spartanburg, S.C. – The USC Upstate women's golf team continues its spring season this weekend as the Spartans head to Morganton, N.C. for the Mimosa Hills Intercollegiate hosted by Appalachian State at the par-72, 6,098-yard Mimosa Hills Golf & Country Club.
The Mimosa Hills Intercollegiate is the final tournament for Upstate prior to the A-Sun Championships next weekend.
The Spartans will send out a five-player lineup for the two-day tournament consisting of Payton Culler, Sidney Dermody, Allea Hawkins, Malika Allie and Allie Gennaula. The Mimosa Hills Intercollegiate will tee off at 9 a.m. on Sunday and Monday mornings.
Upstate is one of 15 teams competing this weekend along with: Appalachian State, Bethune-Cookman, Elon, Gardner-Webb, High Point, Jacksonville State, Lipscomb, Longwood, Piedmont College, Presbyterian College, Sand Hills CC, Stetson, Winthrop and Wofford.
The Spartans are competing for the first time since Mar. 19-20 when they finished in 17th place at the Low Country Intercollegiate in Hilton Head, S.C. Culler led Upstate in the individual standings after placing just outside the top 20 in a tie for 21st place. Dermody had the lowest round of the tournament for Upstate as she carded a score of 75 during the second round.
The 2016 A-Sun Championships will be held Apr. 10-12 at the Reunion Resort Golf Course in Kissimmee, Fla.
