
Upstate Finishes First Round of Mimosa Hills Intercollegiate in 10th Place

Morganton, N.C. – The USC Upstate women's golf team carded an opening round 323 on Sunday and is in 10th place following first day action at the Mimosa Hills Intercollegiate from the par-72, 6,098-yard Mimosa Hills Golf & Country Club.
Upstate currently sits five strokes back of Gardner-Webb in ninth place and seven of eighth place Longwood. Jacksonville State posted a first round 303 on Sunday and is atop the team leaderboard by four strokes of Bethune-Cookman and Wofford.
Payton Culler turned in the top individual performance for the Spartans as the sophomore posted a first round score of 5-over 77. Sidney Dermody is three strokes back of Culler in a tie for 36th with an 8-over score of 80, while Allie Gennaula concluded her first round in a tie for 44th position at 82. Upstate also counted scores from Allea Hawkins and Malika Allie who are tied for 63rd and 71st place, respectively. Hawkins had a first round 84 and Allie added a 90.
Jacksonville State's Natalia Azcue and Giulia Vandenberg of Stetson are tied atop the individual standings after shooting an even-par 72.
The final round of the Mimosa Hills Intercollegiate will tee off at 9 a.m. Monday morning.
