
Spartans Open September against Furman

Spartanburg, S.C. – The USC Upstate women's soccer team opens the month of September with a visit from local rival Furman on Thursday night at 7 p.m. in County University Soccer Stadium.
Upstate is 0-2-2 following a pair of ties last weekend. The Spartans battled to a 1-1 draw at South Carolina State on Friday before a 0-0 tie against Gardner-Webb on Sunday where the Spartans took a season-high 17 shots.
Furman is 1-0-1 following an 8-0 victory over North Greenville on August 22 and a 0-0 tie against Coastal Carolina to open the season on August 19. The Paladins were scheduled to face Presbyterian College last Friday but the match was cancelled due to lightning and wet field conditions.
The Paladins lead the all-time series 7-0 following a 1-0 victory last season in Greenville, S.C.
