Spartans Have Several Personal Bests at Eye Opener Invitational

Spartanburg, S.C. – The USC Upstate cross country teams kicked off the 2016 season on Friday evening as they hosted the 33rd annual Eye Opener Invitational at Milliken Research Center.
The Upstate men finished in third place with 88 points with an average time of 27:08.11. The women scored a fifth place finish with 134 points and an average time of 20:37.86.
Noteworthy
- Seven Upstate runners finished with a new personal-best times.
- Theodore Kountourogiannis picked up his third career top-10 finish as he crossed the finish line in 10th place with a time of 26:27.94.
- Furman swept the team portion of the meet. The Paladins also had individual winners in Savannah Carnahan (17:25.96) and Frank Lara (25:16.88).
