Spartanburg, S.C. – The USC Upstate men's soccer team suffered a 3-1 setback Tuesday evening as the Spartans fell to the Wofford Terriers in their final non-conference road match of the season at Snyder Field.

Upstate falls to 2-4 on the season while Wofford improves to 5-2.

STATS OF THE MATCH

The Spartans held a 10-9 advantage over the Terriers in shots highlighted by an 8-3 margin in the second half. Wofford led 6-2 in shots during the first half.
Cam Philpot led Upstate with three shot attempts in the match with Lukas Sommer attempting one on-goal.
Sam Ross, Matthew Aurednik and Austin Tuggle each had two shots for the Terriers, while four different players had an attempt on-net.
Davis Smith recorded one save in net for the Spartans.
Wofford goalie Joe Wichmann did not tally a save in the contest.

UPSTATE GOALS

Sommer scored his first goal of the season in the 24^th minute, taking advantage of Upstate's first penalty kick of the year. The junior drew a foul inside the penalty area and his attempt beat Wichmann high. (USC Upstate 1, Wofford 1)

WOFFORD GOALS

Connor Donohue put the Terriers on the board first just as the match was entering the 14^th minute of play. Wichmann's goal kick sailed to Andreas Suri, who dished the ball to Donohue for a strike from the top of the box. (USC Upstate 0, Wofford 1)
Ross quickly responded for Wofford following the equalizer from Sommer in the 26^th minute. Tanner DeFreitas was able to find Ross on a low cross into the box and finished his chance for the game-winner. (USC Upstate 1, Wofford 2)
Aurednik extended the Terriers' lead to two goals in the game's final minute on a cross from Tuggle. Aurednik received the ball from Tuggle over the top and scored from in front of the net. (USC Upstate 1, Wofford 3)
