
Women's Soccer Opens ASUN Play against NJIT

Spartanburg, S.C. – The USC Upstate women's soccer team will begin the ASUN Conference portion of the 2016 season on Saturday afternoon as the Spartans host NJIT at 1 p.m. from County University Soccer Stadium.
Upstate is 0-8-2 following a 2-1 home loss to Presbyterian College on Sept. 16. Delaney Bussey scored her first collegiate goal in the 21st minute before the Blue Hose tied the game in the 28th minute. A goal in the 76th minute by Samantha Fink proved to be the difference-maker.
Brooke Bailey currently leads the NCAA with 77 saves. Bailey, Maddie Little and Nicki Krejci have started all 10 games for Upstate.
NJIT is 4-4-2 following a 2-0 loss at Temple on Sunday and enter Saturday's game having lost their last four contests. The Highlanders have wins over Wagner, Hartford, Saint Peter's and Iona, with losses coming against Rider, Manhattan, Marist and Temple.
Upstate won the lone meeting between the schools, 2-0, on Sept. 26, 2015 on goals by Kate Winegarner and Caroline Keener.

The Spartans hit the road next week, traveling to Florida Gulf Coast for a 7 p.m. contest on Friday before wrapping up the weekend with a 1 p.m. matinee at Stetson on Sunday.
