
Upstate Continues Road Trip this Weekend at Kennesaw State, Lipscomb

Spartanburg, S.C. – The USC Upstate volleyball team remains on the road this weekend in conference play as the Spartans are scheduled to face the Kennesaw State Owls and Lipscomb Bisons on Friday and Saturday.
Upstate opens the weekend on Friday evening at 7 p.m. against Kennesaw State before traveling to Lipscomb on Saturday afternoon for a 4 p.m. match.
The Spartans began their road trip last weekend dropping a pair of matches at Florida Gulf Coast and Stetson. Upstate had three players record double-doubles against Stetson in Montana Swanson, Callie Yeargin and Madison Haake. McKenna Kirkpatrick also set a new career-high after leading the Spartans offensively with 18 kills.
Lily Dempsey leads the Upstate offense this season with 173 kills and is averaging 2.58 kills per set. Haake has dished out 491 assists and 20 service aces while Kaleigh Kelley contributes a team-leading 263 digs. Kirkpatrick also leads the team with 44 total blocks.
The Spartans currently lead the ASUN this season in digs per set and are fourth in digs. Haake ranks fourth in the conference in assists, tied for sixth in digs per set and 10th in digs. Kelley sits fifth in the league in digs while Dempsey is eighth in kills.
Upstate is facing the Owls for the 19th time in program history and Lipscomb the 18th time. Kennesaw State sits at 10-4 overall this season and 4-1 in conference play while Lipscomb is 9-9 on the year and 2-3 against conference opponents.

The Spartans close out their road trip on Wednesday, Oct. 18 at 6 p.m. against Presbyterian College.
