Upstate Returns to the Course at FAU Fall Invitational

Spartanburg, S.C. – The USC Upstate women's golf team heads to Boca Raton, Fla. this week to compete in the FAU Fall Invitational hosted by Florida Atlantic from the par 72, 6,039-yard Osprey Point Golf Course.
The FAU Fall Invitational is a 36-hole tournament played over the course of two days. Teams will play 18 holes on Monday with an 8 a.m. start. Tuesday will feature 18 holes of competition with tee times also beginning at 8 a.m.
Upstate will be sending out a five-player lineup consisting of Pan Paksanont, Brooke Hutto, Payton Culler, Anna Chanthaphaeng and Sidney Dermody. Marley DeFreitas is also competing as an individual.
The Spartans are one of six teams playing at the FAU Fall Invitational along with Florida Atlantic, Bethune-Cookman, Seminole State, UTEP and Stetson.
Upstate is back on the course for the first time since Oct. 2-3 when it finished in a tie for seventh place at the Jacksonville Classic in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla. Paksanont led the Spartans individually by recording her first career top-5 finish after placing in a tie for fourth place. Paksanont led Upstate with six birdies and 38 pars while also registering a 1-over 3.08 stroke average in par 3 scoring, even-par 5.00 stroke average in par 5 scoring and 4.10 stroke average in par 4 scoring. Chanthaphaeng tied Paksanont for the team-lead in par 3 scoring with a 1-over 3.08 stroke average.
The Spartans concluded play at the Jacksonville Classic second among the field in par 3 scoring with a 3.25 stroke average and fourth in par 4 scoring at 4.27. Upstate ranked fourth at the tournament with 163 pars and contributed 20 birdies.

The Spartans close out their fall schedule in Spartanburg Oct. 23-24 at the Terrier Intercollegiate hosted by Wofford at the Country Club of Spartanburg.
