Spartans Conclude ITA Carolinas Regional

Chapel Hill, N.C. – USC Upstate women's tennis student-athletes Carol Sigaki and Vale Zarama took part in the ITA Carolinas Regional at the Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center at the University of North Carolina last weekend.
In the doubles bracket, Sigaki and Zarama enjoyed a first round bye before they dropped a hard-fought 8-6 decision to South Carolina's Silvia Chinellato and Megan Davies.
Sigaki was defeated by Coastal Carolina's Rylie Cox 6-4, 6-1 in the first round of the singles bracket. Moving to the consolation singles bracket, Sigaki lost to Winthrop's Alisa Solovyea 6-1, 6-0.
In the qualifying singles bracket, Zarama was defeated by Megan Kauffman of Winthrop 6-0, 6-1.
Upstate returns to the court this weekend at the Wofford Invitational.
