
Spartans to Compete in Wofford Invitational

Spartanburg, S.C. – The USC Upstate women's tennis team remains in Spartanburg this weekend as the Spartans make the crosstown trek to compete in the Wofford Invitational.
Doubles matches will begin Friday at 11 a.m. at Wofford's Reeves Tennis Center. In an attempt to beat forecasted inclement weather on Saturday, two rounds of singles will be played at both Wofford and the USC Upstate Tennis Complex on Friday afternoon beginning at 1 p.m. Saturday's action begins at 9 a.m. with two rounds of doubles followed by singles play. Any matches not completed on Saturday will be played Sunday.
Carol Sigaki and Noelia Acuna will play Emory's Ysabel Gonzalez-Rico and Bridget Harding in Gold Doubles. In the Gray Doubles bracket, Vale Zarama and Taylor Dodd face Arkansas State's Shannon O'Brien and Kirsty Venter.
In singles play, Sigaki will face Nina Sorkin of Virginia Tech in the Gold Singles bracket. Zarama and Harding will square off in the Wofford Singles bracket while Acuna and Sofia Shut'ko of Savannah State will play in the White Singles bracket. Gabriela Cevallos will face Wofford's Curran Carver in the SoCon Singles bracket with Dodd facing Western Carolina's Lauren McCall in the College Singles bracket. Sarah Parker will play Alex Schlesner in the Carolina Singles bracket. All singles brackets involving USC Upstate student-athletes expect the Carolina Singles will be played at the USC Upstate Tennis Complex on Friday.
Upstate concludes its fall schedule next weekend at the Furman Challenge.
