
Upstate Faces Stetson, FGCU this Weekend in Final Home Matches

Spartanburg, S.C. – The USC Upstate volleyball team plays its final two home matches of the regular season this weekend as the Spartans welcome the Stetson Hatters and Florida Gulf Coast Eagles to the G.B. Hodge Center for a pair of ASUN matches.
Upstate hosts Stetson on Friday evening at 6 p.m. and Florida Gulf Coast on Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m. Friday is also Senior Night for the Spartans as they will honor Kaleigh Kelley, Dominique Arnold, Rebecca Shearer and Brianna Tellschow following the match.
Upstate continued a five-match homestand last weekend dropping a pair of conference matches to Lipscomb and Kennesaw State. Lily Dempsey, Montana Swanson and Madison Haake each hit over .300 against Lipscomb while Dempsey finished with 15 kills, marking the 11th time this season she has tallied double-digit kills in a match. Haake added her ninth double-double of the season against Kennesaw State and McKenna Kirkpatrick hit a team-best .583 overall.
The Spartans currently rank third in the ASUN this season in both digs and digs per set. Haake is fourth in the ASUN in assists, sixth in assists per set, seventh in service aces and 10th in digs. Dempsey sits ninth in kills while Kaleigh Kelley ranks sixth in digs and eighth in digs per set. Nationally, Haake is second with four triple-doubles.
Upstate is facing Stetson for the 19th time in program history and Florida Gulf Coast the 18th time. The Spartans hold a 10-8 lead in the all-time series over the Hatters. Stetson enters the weekend with a 3-19 overall record and 2-8 conference mark while the Eagles are 17-8 on the season and 7-3 in league play.

The Spartans close out their regular season next weekend, Nov. 10-11, on the road at North Florida and Jacksonville.
