
Upstate Cross Country Teams Earn USTFCCCA All-Academic Team Honors

New Orleans, La. – The USC Upstate men's and women's cross country teams have earned All-Academic Team accolades from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross County Coaches Association (USTFCCCA), it was announced today.
The men's team earned the award for the third consecutive season with a team grade-point average of 3.50. Upstate's women's team finished the fall semester with a team grade-point average of 3.11 earning All-Academic Team honors for the second consecutive year.
The Upstate men claimed the team title at the Adidas Winthrop Invitational in September. Dorian Jones and Theodore Kountourogiannis earned Second Team All-Conference honors after finishing in eighth and 14th place, respectively. This is the first season since 2012 that the Spartans have had multiple All-Conference runners on the men's team. Jones and Kountourogiannis also earned spots on the ASUN All-Academic Team.
The women's team had several runners achieve new personal bests this season. Leah Jostes earned ASUN Runner of the Week honors on Sept. 21 and shared the top spot this season with Essence Jackson.
Overall, 242 women's and 189 men's teams earned All-Academic Team honors. Programs must have compiled a cumulative grade-point average of 3.0 or higher to be eligible for the award.
