
Upstate Heads South to Compete in Lady EagleCat Invitational

Spartanburg, S.C. – The USC Upstate women's golf team will head south to Daytona Beach, Fla. and compete in the Lady EagleCat Invitational, hosted by Bethune-Cookman and Winthrop, this week at the LPGA International Golf Club.
The Lady EagleCat Invitational will take place Thursday and Friday with a total of 12 teams slated to compete in the tournament.
Upstate will send out a five-player lineup consisting of Pan Paksanont, Anna Chanthaphaeng, Payton Culler, Sidney Dermody and Caroline Heustess.
The Spartans are being joined at the Lady EagleCat Invitational by hosts Bethune-Cookman and Winthrop, Florida Atlantic, Boston College, Savannah State, Monmouth, Holy Cross, Hartford, Long Island, Sacred Heart and North Carolina A&T.
A total of 36 holes will be played over the course of Thursday and Friday with 18 scheduled for each day.
Upstate began its fall season Feb. 26-28 at the Edwin Watts/Kiawah Island Spring Classic by finishing in 25th place out of 43 teams. On the final day of competition, the Spartans competed in the flight championship and placed third behind William & Mary and UNC Greensboro. Upstate concluded the tournament with a combined score of 929 (313-306-310) and was led individually by Chanthaphaeng, who placed in a tie for 60th position.
The 25th place performance was the best for the Spartans at the Edwin Watts/Kiawah Island Spring Classic since a 28th place finish during the 2013-14 season.
Upstate travels to Hilton Head Island, S.C. Mar. 18-19 for the Low Country Intercollegiate at Moss Creek Golf Club.
