Shubert Named ASUN Pitcher of the Week

LakePoint, Ga. – USC Upstate senior Lexi Shubert was honored by the ASUN Conference for the third time this season, and eighth in her career, this afternoon as the Pitcher of the Week following her performance last weekend as the Spartans won two out of three on the road at Jacksonville.
Shubert received the weekly recognition after another dominant performance in the circle for Upstate. The Hickory, N.C. native compiled a 1-0 record and 0.00 ERA in two appearances with one start and one shutout. She gave up no runs during the series in nine innings of work while allowing four hits, one walk and six strikeouts.
The senior pitched a complete game shutout in game two of the series with the Dolphins to help Upstate even the series. She only allowed four hits and struck out three batters. Shubert then came out of the bullpen in the series finale and pitched two scoreless and hitless innings to lead the Spartans to their third consecutive ASUN series victory. Opposing hitters only batted .148 off Shubert this past weekend.
