
Cross Country Returns to Action at Winthrop Invitational

Spartanburg, S.C. – Following a weekend off the USC Upstate cross country teams will return to action on Saturday as the Spartans compete in the Winthrop Invitational held at the Winthrop Farm Course.
The men's race is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. followed by the women's race at 10 a.m. Admission to the event is free.
The Upstate men are the defending champions of the event after defeating Winthrop in a tiebreaker last year. Upstate had three runners in the top five, including Dorian Jones and Ereck Lewis. The women's team earned a third place finish a year ago.
At the season-opening Eye Opener Invitational on September 1, freshman Marcy Bradshaw led the women's team with a 27th place finish with a time of 20:13.50. Jones led the men's team with an 18th place finish and a time of 27:03.00. The men's team finished in second place while the women scored a third place finish.
In addition to Upstate, other schools competing include Duke, Presbyterian College, South Carolina State, The Citadel, Winthrop and Wofford.

Upstate will host its second home meet of 2017 on September 30 with the Upstate Invitational. The meet will begin at 9 a.m. at Milliken Research Center.
