
Cross Country Hosts Upstate Invitational Saturday

Spartanburg, S.C. – For the second time this month, the USC Upstate cross country teams will run at the Milliken Research Center as the Spartans host the Upstate Invitational on Saturday. The Spartans hosted the Eye Opener Invitational on Sept. 1 to open the 2017 season.
The women's 5K race will begin at 9 a.m. followed by the men's 8K race at 9:45 a.m.
Freshman Marcy Bradshaw scored her first career top-10 finish with a ninth place run at the Winthrop Invitational on Sept. 16. Her time of 19:59.63 is a personal-best, topping her previous best mark which was set at the Eye Opener.
The men's team claimed second place at the Winthrop Invitational as two runners finished inside of the top-20 led by Dorian Jones in 14th place. Jacob Coccia scored a 17th place finish. The only team to beat the Spartans at the Winthrop Invitational was Duke, which is currently ranked 11th in the USTFCCCA Southeast Region poll.
Division I teams competing include Appalachian State, Campbell, Coastal Carolina, ETSU, Gardner-Webb, High Point (men only), Mercer, UNC Wilmington, USC Upstate, Western Carolina, Winthrop and Wofford. Non-Division I teams include Anderson, Lander (women only) and Newberry.
Upstate will travel to Greenville, N.C. on Friday, Oct. 13 for the ECU Invitational.
