
Upstate Hosts Wofford on Saturday Evening in Crosstown Clash

Spartanburg, S.C. – The USC Upstate men's soccer team looks for its second straight victory on Saturday evening when the Spartans welcome crosstown rival Wofford to County University Soccer Stadium for a 7 p.m. match.
Upstate and Wofford are meeting for the 20th time in program history on Saturday with the Terriers, winners of the last nine meetings, holding an 11-8 lead in the all-time series.
The Spartans opened their home schedule last Saturday with a 3-2 victory over Liberty behind three unanswered goals. The win was the first of the season for Upstate and head coach Scott Halkett. Cam Philpot led the Spartans offensively with three points on one goal and one assist. Upstate also received goals from Anson Girone and JR Cozine, while Calon Minors dished out one assist.
The Spartans held a 20-6 advantage over the Flames in shots while both teams attempted seven corner kicks.
Wofford enters the match with a 0-4 overall record with losses to Radford, Cal State Fullerton, Winthrop and Gardner-Webb. Sam Ross leads the Terriers with one goal while Matthew Reynolds has grabbed nine saves in goal. Wofford is led by 10th-year head coach Ralph Polson.
