
Ellis Scores 13th Goal of Season, USC Upstate Falls at Radford

Radford, Va. – Abbie Ellis registered her team-leading 13th goal of the season on Saturday evening as the USC Upstate women's soccer team dropped a 4-1 decision on the road in Big South play against the Radford Highlanders at Cupp Stadium.
USC Upstate falls to 8-7 overall and 3-4 in the Big South while Radford improves to 10-2-1 on the season and 6-1 in conference play.
STATS OF THE MATCH
- The Highlanders held a 29-13 advantage over the Spartans in shots and 11-5 in attempts on goal.
- Radford also led 3-2 in corner kicks.
- USC Upstate finished the game with seven saves while the Highlanders had four.
- Ellis came off the bench to score her 13th goal of the season and is now five away from tying Thea Moen's single-season scoring record of 18 in 2001.
- Ellis also moves into third place all-time as a Spartan for career goals (18) while moving one point away from matching Dawn Soule (2000-01, 03-04) for second in career points at 45.
- Isabella Burns attempted a team-high four shots for USC Upstate while Ellis added two attempts on goal.
- Jasmine Casarez scored a hat trick for the Highlanders and contributed one assist while leading the team with 10 shots.
- Gabi Paupst also scored for Radford.
- Nelia Perez dished out three assists while Reese Degnan had one.
- Logan Pace finished with a career-high seven saves.
- Highlander goalie Lexi Dean grabbed four saves.

- Ellis scored in the 73rd minute off a free kick from 30 yards away. (USC Upstate 1, Radford 4)
RADFORD GOALS
- Paupst scored the first goal of the game for Radford in the 7th minute off assists from Perez and Casarez. (USC Upstate 0, Radford 1)
- Casarez recorded her first goal in the 26th minute off a cross inside the 18-yard box by Perez. (USC Upstate 0, Radford 2)
- Casarez made it 3-0 for the Highlanders in the 33rd minute following a cross from Degnan. (USC Upstate 0, Radford 3)
- Casarez completed the hat trick in the 46th minute as Perez was credited with the assist. (USC Upstate 0, Radford 4)
