Chanthaphaeng Tied for Fifth at Mimosa Hills Intercollegiate

Morganton, N.C. – Anna Chanthaphaeng carded an opening round 73 and is tied for fifth place, while the USC Upstate women's golf team is fourth overall, as the Spartans opened play at the Mimosa Hills Intercollegiate on Sunday from the par 72, 6099-yard Mimosa Hills Country Club.

USC Upstate posted a first round 300 and sits in fourth place of the team standings just five strokes back of day one leader Wofford.

The Terriers lead the Mimosa Hills Intercollegiate by two strokes over Troy and Elon at 297. Wofford's Nicole Chin is atop the individual leaderboard by three strokes at 3-under par 69.

A LOOK AT THE SCORECARD

Chanthaphaeng's first round 73 ties her season-low score and puts her in a tie for fifth place four strokes back of the tournament leader.
Pan Paksanont and Brooke Hutto posted identical rounds of 74 and are both tied for 11^th place after day one.
Hutto matched her career-low round on Sunday.
Sidney Dermody and Payton Culler tallied rounds of 79 to finish the first day tied for 41^st position to round out the individual standings for the Spartans.
Playing as an individual, Marley DeFreitas is tied for 67^th after shooting a first round 82.
USC Upstate recorded a total of 55 pars and 13 birdies in the opening round.
Hutto led the team with 12 pars while Chanthaphaeng and Paksanont compiled a team-leading four birdies.
Along with the four birdies from Chanthaphaeng and Paksanont, Hutto added two, and Dermody, Culler and DeFreitas had one apiece.
Chanthaphaeng concluded the round with 10 pars, Dermody and Culler nine each, Paksanont eight and DeFreitas seven.
