Culler Posts Top Round for USC Upstate to Open ASUN Women's Golf Championships

Braselton, Ga. – Payton Culler turned in the lowest score of the day to lead the USC Upstate women's golf team during the first day of the ASUN Women's Golf Championships on Sunday from the par 73, 6105-yard Legends Course at Chateau Elan.
USC Upstate carded an opening round 338 and is currently in sixth place in front of Lipscomb. The Spartans are nine strokes back of Florida Gulf Coast in fifth place.
North Florida leads the ASUN Women's Golf Championships after day one by six strokes over Kennesaw State at 307. The individual leaderboard features a three-way tie of first place at 2-over 75 between Teresa Conroy of North Florida, Amanda Detmer of Jacksonville and Mindy Herrick of North Florida.
A LOOK AT THE SCORECARD
- Culler was the top individual performer for USC Upstate on Sunday shooting an opening round 81 and currently sits tied for 15th place.
- Pan Paksanont and Sidney Dermody both turned in scores of 84 and are tied for 24th place through first round action.
- Brooke Hutto and Anna Chanthaphaeng round out the individual standings for the Spartans in 32nd and 34th places, respectively. Hutto posted a first round 89 and Chanthaphaeng contributed a 91.
- USC Upstate finished the first day with a 3.45 stroke average in par 3 scoring, 4.69 stroke average in par 4 scoring and 5.96 stroke average in par 5 scoring.
- The Spartans also compiled 44 pars.
- Paksanont and Culler lead the team in par 3 scoring with an even-par score and 3.00 stroke average.
- Paksanont added a team-best 4.56 stroke average in par 4 scoring and Culler a 2-over, 5.40 stroke average in par 5 scoring.
- Dermody tied Culler for the team-lead in par 5 scoring at 2-over with a 5.40 stroke average.
- Culler also recorded a team-leading 11 pars while Paksanont tallied 10, Dermody nine, and Chanthaphaeng and Hutto seven each.
