Skaiaa Named Big South Defensive Player of the Week

Charlotte, N.C. – USC Upstate freshman defender Martin Skaiaa was honored by the Big South on Tuesday afternoon as he was named the Defensive Player of the Week following his performance last Friday as the Spartans recorded a 2-0 victory at UNC Asheville to open conference play.
Skaiaa was a big factor on the USC Upstate backline that earned a clean sheet for its first-ever Big South win in program history. The Sogne, Norway native played the full 90 minutes at UNC Asheville and helped limit the Bulldog offense without a first-half shot and just five for the match.
It is the first career weekly honor for Skaiaa.
