Monells Named to First-Team, Bunting Named to All-Academic Big South Team

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Earlier today the Big South Conference announced the men's soccer annual awards, USC Upstate's Pol Monells (Barcelona, Spain) was named to the First-Team and senior Joel Bunting (Charleston, S.C.) earned an All-Academic team nod.
Monells a transferred into the men's soccer program and made an immediate impact this season for the Spartans. The junior forward started every game for USC Upstate and recorded 1306 minutes of playing time this season. Monells finished the 2019 campaign with a trio of goals, six assists, 12 points and a team high 46 shots. Monells scored all three of his goals in the final three matches of the season, the highlight of the year came when he scored the game winner against Wofford College.
The captain of the men's soccer team Joel Bunting added another notch to his belt on Friday night with an All-Academic team nod. Bunting a four-year senior will graduate this spring with a degree in Exercise & Sport Science. The Palmetto State native currently hold a 3.6 GPA in the classroom.
