
Elliott's Career-Low Round Highlights Day One of Edwin Watts/Kiawah Island Spring Classic

Kiawah Island, S.C. – Kathryn Elliott recorded a career-low round on Sunday and tied with Pan Paksanont for the lowest score of the day as the USC Upstate women's golf team opened play at the Edwin Watts/Kiawah Island Spring Classic from the par 72, 5964-yard Osprey Point Golf Club.
USC Upstate currently sits in 16th place out of 49 teams after shooting an opening round 301.
Coastal Carolina leads the Edwin Watts/Kiawah Island Spring Classic by two strokes over Delaware at 2-under par 286. Lehigh's Reagan Jahn sits atop the individual leaderboard by one stroke at 4-under 68.
A LOOK AT THE SCORECARD
- A total of six strokes separates the Spartans from Jacksonville State and Western Carolina who are currently tied for 10th place.
- Elliott's first round 73 breaks her previous career-low round of 78 carded during the second round of the Terrier Intercollegiate.
- Elliott and Paksanont, who also contributed an opening round 73, lead USC Upstate individually in a tie for 36th place at 1-over par.
- Brooke Hutto sits tied for 73rd place at 3-over 75.
- Anna Chanthaphaeng (80) and Beem Pabsimma (84) round out the individual leaderboard for the Spartans. Chanthaphaeng is tied for 163rd place while Pabsimma currently sits tied for 207th position.
- USC Upstate is currently tied for second among the tournament field in par 3 scoring at 2-over with a 3.10 stroke average.
- The Spartans also compiled a 4.34 stroke average in par 4 scoring, 5.30 stroke average in par 5 scoring and 48 pars.
- USC Upstate is tied for sixth place with 13 birdies.
- Hutto currently sits in a tie for first place in par 3 scoring at 1-under par and a 2.75 stroke average.
- Hutto also leads the team in par 5 scoring (-1, 4.75 stroke average) and is tied with Elliott for the team-lead in birdies (4).
- Elliott is tied for third at the tournament in par 4 scoring at 2-under with a 3.80 stroke average.
- Paksanont has a team-leading even-par, 5.00 stroke average in par 5 scoring and 13 pars.
- Paksanont and Pabsimma have each collected two birdies while Chanthaphaeng adds one.
