
Saldh Named to Big South Second Team, Zarama Named to All-Academic Team

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Big South Conference announced earlier today that USC Upstate women's tennis player Victoria Saldh (Gothenburg, Sweden) has been named to the Second Team All-Conference Singles and senior Vale Zarama (Pasto, Colombia) has been named to the All-Academic Team.
Saldh burst on to the scene her freshman season in the green and white. The native of Sweden posted a 10-8 overall record playing primarily at the No. 1 singles position. Saldh becomes the first player since Isabel Von Stryk posted a 15-5 record during the 2015 campaign. Saldh and teammate Elin Hellberg (Malmo, Sweden) teamed up as the Spartans No. 2 doubles team this season and together they combined go 10-5 on the season. The last time a USC Upstate doubles combination reached double-digit wins was during the 2013 season.
Zarama currently holds a 3.98 grade-point average is majoring business administration. The senior has amassed 28 wins in her doubles career and 15 wins in her singles career.
The USC Upstate women's tennis team will be back in action tomorrow afternoon against Longwood University in the First Round of the 2019 Big South Tennis Tournament.
