USC Upstate announces updated attendance protocols for home athletic events

Updated March 4, 2021
Fan Experience Update:  Beer available for select home events beginning March 5
To enhance the fan experience for home athletic events this spring, USC Upstate athletics will widen the offerings for concessions beginning Friday, March 5th.  In addition to a full line of concessions, including hot dogs, chili dogs, hot pretzels, chips, candy and Coca-Cola products, the athletic department will work with campus dining partner, Sodexho to offer beer from Budweiser of Spartanburg at baseball and softball games on Fridays and Saturdays only this spring.  Beer sales will also be extended to the Homecoming soccer doubleheader on Saturday, March 27.

All COVID-19 attendance policies regarding mask coverings and social distancing outlined below will remain in effect for all events this spring.

Updated February 5, 2021
Due to the ongoing effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, USC Upstate has announced plans for attendance surrounding home baseball, softball, men's and women's soccer and volleyball contests this spring.

Based on recommendations from the USC Upstate COVID Task Force, the Big South Conference and the NCAA, the wearing of masks and seating arranged in a socially distant manner will be mandated for all venues until further notice.

"We learned a great deal during the course of basketball season in regard to safely hosting events while having a limited number of spectators inside the Hodge Center." said vice chancellor and director of athletics Daniel Feig. "As we advance toward our spring sports, most of which are outdoor events, we will continue to implement the same safety measures that have been in place since November, including the wearing of face coverings and social distancing. In doing so, we give our student-athletes the opportunity to perform in front of their family members, friends, and community."

BASKETBALL AND VOLLEYBALL
There will be no changes to attendance policies for the remainder of the men's and women's basketball season.  All the attendance policies from basketball season will be carried over into the volleyball season.  Reservation of game tickets for volleyball matches will be available to student-athlete families and USC Upstate students through an online sign up form that will be published via the @Upstate_vb Instagram and @UpstateVB Twitter accounts. Total attendance for volleyball matches will be under 75 people. There will be no tickets available at this time for the general public or visiting teams.

BASEBALL, SOFTBALL AND SOCCER
For the outdoor sports of baseball, softball and men's and women's soccer, face coverings will be required and social distancing protocols will be in place that will limit seating capacity in the grandstands of Harley Park (baseball), Cyrill Stadium (softball) and County-University Soccer Stadium (men's and women's soccer).  Attendees will be allowed to bring tailgate chairs to utilize the large grass berms at these venues, and game operations staff will direct fans to sit in a socially distant manner.

Admission is not charged for USC Upstate baseball, softball and soccer in 2021 thanks to our on-going partnership with Ingles Markets, the official grocer of the Spartans.
Schedules are subject to change at any time and the most up-to-date schedule may be found on each program's webpage at upstatespartans.com.
