Ones to Watch
Upstate – There will be a lot of new faces to watch for this season as head coach Ronda Shirley brought in 11 new players, six freshmen and five transfers. Up front, Upstate will be led by junior transfer middle blocker Alexis Mareko and freshman middle blocker Nikki Deslatte. Outside hitters Kelly Wiedemann and Breeana Gamueda, both junior transfers, will also look to make an immediate impact for the Spartans. Rounding out newcomers to watch for is setter Bruna Avila, a junior transfer from Daytona State College.
Returners to watch will be junior libero Mackenzie Marcum, who led the team with 374 digs in the 2019 season, and sophomore right side hitter Bri Strobert.
Campbell – Sarah Colla was voted the Big South Preseason Player of the Year by the league's coaches. She was the Big South's leading scorer last season, posting 407 kills and 63 blocks, and was named to the Big South All-Conference Team.
