SPARTANBURG, S.C. – USC Upstate head men's basketball coach
Dave Dickerson announced the signing of Jordan Gainey out of South Kent School on Wednesday morning.
Gainey is a two-way player at South Kent School and is a great three-point shooter who prides himself as a lockdown defender at the other end. This past season, Gainey shot just under 40 percent from the three-point arch. Gainey has also been one of the top scorers on a team that has lost just two games all season. Prior to coming to South Kent, Gainey won a State Championship in his home state of Arizona.
"With Jordan we are adding a great player to our program that brings some qualities that we desperately need, he is an elite shooter and has a high level IQ on both ends of the court. He has played for some really good high school coaches and is the son of a college coach. We are beyond excited for Jordan Gainey and Jalen Breazeale to join our program," said USC Upstate head coach
Dave Dickerson.
"USC Upstate is gaining a great young man of high character and great leadership skills both on and off the court. I have no doubt that he will be able to step onto the court and contribute right away at USC Upstate," South Kent Associate Athletic Director and head basketball coach Raphael Chillious said.
Jordan Gainey is the son of Justin and Courtney Gainey. Jordan has two younger brothers named Jayson and Jaxson. Gainey's father (Justin) is currently an assistant basketball coach at the University of Tennessee.
